Teaching the 16 fundamental movement basics that all Pilates exercises build on.
Goals of this class:
Using the 25 beginner-intermediate matwork series the participant builds up stamina and strength in the core (abdominal and back muscles), re-aligns the spine, creates freedom of movement in all joints with a balanced and centeredness throughout the spine.
Adding some intensive sport specific core exercises to the 25 matwork series exercises this class is ideal for the golfer, skier, hockey player, cyclist or runner and anyone that wants that extra emphasis on the core.
Typicality best suited for participants that are familiar with Pilates mat work. Increasing load bearing movements and repetitions to add intensity, however everyone is to work at their own level, and the instructor will demonstrate and teach modifications for beginners.
Based on the relaxing hatha style “yoga postures”, Feldenkrais breathing techniques and Alexander alignment techniques. This class teaches the use of deep, deliberate breathing to channel energy unblocking tightness in muscles and joints. Spine and “Back” health, and the relationship to the rest of the body is the emphasis of this class. The mind, body and soul reach clarity and the body feels longer, more relaxed and re-juvinated. Treat yourself to some down time and connect back with yourself. This class is done entirely seated or lying down.
Great combination of Pilates mat exercises combined with traditional yoga postures revolving around deep tissue and ligament stretching.
Flexbands are used to add an element of resistance training for the entire body which is followed by traditional yoga postures. Other props, small weighted balls etc...may also be used. Standing body-weight exercises, and standing postures are taught to strengthen the body and help with balance in this class.
Similar to Yogafitt, offers the opportunity for mom's and daughter's, dad's and son's or maybe the whole family to do something “healthful” together. Best suited to ages 12+. Improves activity and co-ordination levels, trains the mind /body connection and increases self-confidence in the young developing adult. Age exceptions, call to speak with your instructor.
Mom's or Dad's and babies, yogafitt exercises, postpartum recovery excersises, weight bearing and body sculpting excersises using the baby as your prop. Bring a friend, we have weighted balls if you don't have a baby....Relaxed, caring environment, get out, move, meet other mothers, feel good about yourself. You will learn how to benefit from caring your baby around and the baby will love being in your arms. Nursing area will be available.
